Calley Means Leaves Senior HHS Advisory Role

October 23, 2026 · MAHA Idaho Staff

Calley Means resigned Thursday, Oct. 22, from his post as a senior adviser to Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Means did not give a reason for his departure.

Means joined the White House early last year as a special government employee before moving into a full-time senior advisory role at the Department of Health and Human Services. He said he holds “tremendous respect” for President Donald Trump and Kennedy.

MAHA policy work

Means was a prominent advocate for the Make America Healthy Again movement during his federal service. His work included efforts to establish a federal definition for ultraprocessed foods, restrict soda purchases through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and press food companies to remove certain dyes.

The White House thanked Means for his contributions. His resignation came less than two weeks before the midterm elections.

Means said the MAHA agenda is “just getting started” and indicated he remains optimistic about its future.
